Today, grid operators manage trillion-dollar infrastructure with zero visibility; they guess capacity from weather data, conduct infrastructure inspection using helicopters, and learn about faults only after they cause serious damage.

Nomadic Drones develops an aerial monitoring platform for high-voltage infrastructure. Our drones land on live 380kV power lines today. They harvest energy from the grid and provide continuous data for grid operators.

We are a VC-backed startup working with major European and American grid operators. To keep up with demand, we’re growing the team and are looking for people with high agency who want to own hard problems end-to-end.

Why Nomadic

• 🔨 Fix the power grid: Power grids are old and cannot keep up with modern demands. Your work will help modernize the grid and ensure robust and stable power distribution.
• 🏗️ Peak engineering: Our drones place electronics in a 380kV E-field and must survive -25°C environments while sitting on 80°C power lines in high wind. You’ll join a team of exceptional engineers who take pride in solving the hardest problems.
• 🏃‍♂️ Ship fast: We deploy early, iterate from field data, and prioritize real-world validation over simulation. Everyone owns their domain from design to deployment. You'll talk to customers, prototype solutions, and ship to production.
• 🥨 Work and live in Munich: Our office is located in central Munich, just a few stops from the Isar river and the English Garden. In the autumn, the Oktoberfest is right around the corner. There are a large number of food options nearby, and Munich offers a wide variety of sports activities and events for your leisure time.

You’ll have everything you need to do great work: we’ll cover any AI subscription or tool that helps you get the job done. We’re office-first in Munich, but working remotely from time to time is supported. You’ll also get a Wellpass membership with extensive access to gyms and sports studios around Germany, and our snack bar is always stocked. Most importantly, you’ll be joining a young, highly motivated team that’s fun to work with and takes ownership end-to-end.

Application Process

After you fill out the application form, the process looks like this:

1. 30 min intro call
2. 1 hour technical interview
3. Full-day paid work trial in person (Munich)

If it’s a good fit, we’ll fly you in for the trial work day and you’ll get an offer in the following days.
